Why Does Gas Stove Leaves Black Pots?

Why Does Gas Stove Leaves Black Pots?

Are your frying pans, saucepans and other cooking implements being left black after they have been used for cooking or reheating food on your gas hob? this is often not normal. There are two potential causes for this problem and that they are closely linked: they both impact the standard of the flame by producing a nasty mixture of gas and air at the burner. The blackness left behind on your pans is really soot resulting from incomplete combustion thanks to a scarcity of oxygen.

THE POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR THIS ISSUE:

THE AIR SUPPLY isn't CORRECTLY ADJUSTED

The first possible explanation for why the flames on your hob are blackening your pans and other cooking implements is that the quantity of air arriving at the burner isn't properly adjusted. Gas hobs on which the air supply to the burners are often adjusted have an air adjustment collar fitted between the jet and therefore the burner. to regulate the air supply, you vary the space between the jet and therefore the air collar (shown in grey within the image). this enables you to form the air supply hole either larger or smaller, thus enabling you to vary the airflow.

If saucepans and frying pans, etc., are being left blackened, the cause is going to be a scarcity of air. When this is often the case, a tall, soft, unstable, smoke-producing flame is produced, which within the worst cases are going to be orangish to yellow in colour. Correctly adjust the airflow to extend the quantity of air delivered and acquire an honest quality flame.

THE GAS NOZZLES (JETS) aren't the proper KIND

The flames on your gas hob also can blacken saucepans and frying pans, etc., if the jets fitted aren't the proper kind for the sort of gas you're using.

Though the air supply itself is not the specific cause during this case, the resulting problem is to all or any intents and purposes an equivalent to the previous issue. Because the jets are the incorrect kind, they provide an excessive amount of gas to the burner, which produces a nasty gas-air mixture, causing your pans to blacken. like the previous issue, the flame produced is going to be tall, soft and unstable, and have a tendency to be orange or yellow in colour.

If this is often the difficulty you're experiencing, it's because your jets are designed to be used with gas (domestic gas) and thus have overlarge a diameter hole. you'll therefore get to replace them with jets designed to be used with bottled butane or propane gas, i.e. jets with smaller diameter holes that deliver less gas to the burner.

Note: to inform whether you've got an honest flame that will not blacken your pans, check out its consistency: it should be properly stable. It should also produce little or no noise and not give off any gas or smoke. And as far as colour cares, an honest quality flame is going to be vivid blue at its core.
